Hi! I’m Kate Tompkins. Welcome to the Manse!
Great news! Tales from the Matthewsburg Manse is on tour for the next three days. A blog tour, that is. Follow the link to join in and read interviews, excerpts and more. Plus a chance to win a $20 Amazon gift card and discover some great book bloggers.
After a hard day, do you like to settle down in a cozy chair, a mug of tea in one hand, a book in the other, and a cat in your lap? I sure do. If the book is full of people I wouldn’t mind having as friends and neighbours–well, most of them, anyway–so much the better. Ordinary people dealing with ordinary problems with the help of friends, family, and prayer. Add in a bit of humour, and set it in a small town, and if books were comfort food, that would be mine.
That’s why I wrote Tales from the Matthewsburg Manse.
When city girl Viv’s husband Mark accepts his first pastoral charge in rural Matthewsburg, she wonders what to expect, and what will be expected of her. The connected stories, some humorous, some suspenseful, some even romantic, explore Viv’s new life and her faith as she finds her place in the community while dealing with local gossip, old rivalries, suspected murder, sabotaged car shows, and more. Who says life in a small town is boring?
Oh, and did I mention the time-slip story?
Check it out for yourself. You can read the first two stories in the Amazon preview.
